Program Types

As part of the IEP process, the following are some, but not all of the continuum of services available to students with disabilities.

Center-based Services

  • Preschool students with special needs and peer models participate in center-based classrooms four days per week for our AM students and five days a week for our PM students
  • Classes can have up to 16 children and are staffed by an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and a minimum of one Paraprofessional.
  • Therapists are assigned to classrooms as prescribed by the Individualized Education Programs of the special needs students.

Itinerant Services

  • Services are provided at their daycare, private preschool, or other setting as long as it is within district boundaries by a traveling itinerant Intervention Specialist.
  • Goals, objectives and support provided are determined and detailed in the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Speech Class Services

  • This program meets for one and a half hours, one time per week at the DCS Preschool.
  • Led by a speech pathologist and an intervention specialist, the small class size allows for activities that target various language processes.

Therapy Services

  • Services are provided at the DCS Preschool or other location determined and detailed in the child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
